Update as at March 16, 2020 from City of Vancouver and Park Board: Announcement re facility closures
Effective immediately, Park Board facilities will be closed until further notice. This includes pools, fitness centres, ice rinks, golf courses, pitch and putt courses, the Celebration Pavilion at QE park, VanDusen Botanical Garden and Bloedel Conservatory
We are also cancelling and refunding sports field permits, and closing fieldhouse changerooms. The fields will remain open for public users for casual recreation. Public washrooms at parks will remain open and will continue to be serviced.
At this time, child day camps at our community centres will continue for families experiencing pressure with the closure of important services. We will be continuing with enhanced cleaning protocols to mitigate the risk of exposure for children. Parents who withdraw their children will be issued a refund.
We are pleased to be able to offer a flexible refund policy for anyone who has paid for Park Board programming or services that are no longer available during this closure.
We deeply appreciate everyone’s understanding of our need to make these difficult decisions. We know how much our community relies on our programming and facilities but feel these steps are necessary at the current time.
